As part of World Oral Health Day at AASTMT, the dental students organized an engaging and educational event under the auspices of the dean Prof. Tarek mahmoud, and the supervison of Dr Ghada Mahmoud. The event focused on raising awareness about dental anxiety and was titled "Goodbye Dental Anxiety, A happy mouth is a happy mind". The students delivered informative lectures to both patients and fellow students on campus, exploring the causes of dental fear and practical strategies to overcome it. The students also highlighted the impact of dental anxiety on patients’ mental well-being, self-esteem and overall health, emphasizing the importance of addressing these fears early. To support their message, they created brochures and visual charts (with the patterns provided on canva) that outlined common triggers of dental anxiety, which served as a basis for open discussions with patients—helping them feel more informed, understood, and empowered in their approach to oral care. the students also distributed pamphlets to the patients and students as a take home message containing how to maintain their oral health. Our sponsors (signal egypt) gave the audiences tooth brushes and toothpaste as giveaways. As part of the event, the students offered complimentary dental check-ups to attendees.
