As a part of the World Oral Health Day Month Celebration 2025, an Oral Screening and Awareness Camp was successfully conducted on 17th April 2025 at the Narikuravar Colony, Lawspet, Puducherry. This initiative was carried out by the Mobile Dental Unit under the National Oral Health Programme (NOHP), Puducherry, and was organized by Jally Home, Puducherry, in partnership with the Indian Dental Association (IDA), Puducherry Branch.
The camp aimed to promote oral hygiene and increase awareness about dental care practices among the community. A total of 53 individuals were screened for various oral health conditions by Dr. Kavipriya (SNO - NOHP Puducherry), Dr. Suganthi (MDU), and their dedicated team members.
Educational sessions were conducted where participants were taught proper brushing techniques and the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene. To reinforce these practices, informative pamphlets were distributed, providing detailed guidance on daily oral care and common dental issues.
Additionally, dental kits comprising toothpaste, toothbrushes, and mouthwash were distributed to all attendees, encouraging them to adopt healthy oral hygiene habits at home.
In total, nearly 71 individuals benefited from the camp, including those who received education, kits, and consultations. The event was well-received by the local residents and marked a significant step towards improving oral health awareness in underserved communities.
