NOHP Puducherry - Oral health awareness session conducted for Self Help group members

World Oral health month Celebration

  An oral health awareness and dental screening camp was successfully conducted on 15/04/2025  at the Community Managed Training Centre, Karikalampakkam , under the aegis of the Block Development Office, Ariyankuppam. The camp was organized specifically for members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and was facilitated by the Mobile Dental Unit team under the National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) Puducherry in association with Indian Dental Association, Puducherry branch.

The event aimed to promote oral health awareness, encourage preventive dental care practices, and provide on-the-spot screening for early detection of oral health issues. A total of 54 SHG members underwent oral health screening conducted by qualified dental professionals.
   In addition to the screenings, an awareness talk was delivered, highlighting the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene and preventing common dental diseases by Dr. Kavipriya - SNO NOHP,  Dr. Helene - PHC Nettapakkam & Dr. Suganthi - MDU & team members.

Participants were also given a demonstration of proper brushing techniques, which they practiced under guidance and educational pamphlets and informative posters were distributed to all attendees.
*In a symbolic and motivational gesture, all participants took a pledge to maintain oral hygiene and spread awareness within their communities.

   Overall, approximately 75 individuals benefited directly and indirectly from this initiative, which also helped spread awareness to the larger community through the participated  SHG members.
