Scientific event for celebrating "World Oral Health Day" in Aqaba Medical Sciences University

Under the patronage of Professor Amjad Al-Shatarat, President of Aqaba Medical Sciences University, the Faculty of Dentistry organized a celebration for “World Oral Health Day” in 9 March 2026, attended by faculty, staff, and students form all medical faculties of the university.

The event began with a speech by Professor Al- Shatarat, who emphasized the importance of oral and dental health awareness and the role of universities and academic institutions in promoting health education among students and the community. He also highlighted the significant attention given to developing and improving the medical and health sectors, which aligns with the Royal directives to provide the best qualified medical services to citizens.

The Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Professor Samia El-Azab, also delivered a speech welcoming the attendees and noting the Faculty's commitment to organizing awareness-raising activities that contribute to increasing health awareness and enhancing the role of students in serving the community. She also presented a valuable presentation; titled “Holistic Dentistry” clarifying how dental & oral health is connected and has a great impact on various parts of the body.

The program included a presentation by students Farah Muqabala and Sarah Al-Sheikh, who reviewed the history of development of dentistry from ancient to recent. They also presented a video revealing the university's initiative regarding the importance of oral health, methods of preventing oral diseases, through several health guidelines to promote oral health among different individuals in the internal community of the university as well as external community in surrounding schools.

At the conclusion of the event, it was announced that the activities of the Faculty of Dentistry at Aqaba Medical Sciences University are included in the global activity map for World Oral Health Day, making it the first dental faculty among Jordanian universities to participate in this year's event.
