Reaching the unreached-a rural community dental visit

An oral health awareness event  was conducted by Public health dentistry of Chettinad Dental College and Research Institute ,kelambakkam at Poonjeri on the occasion of World Oral Health Day on 17th March 2026.The program aimed to educate and engage the local community on the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene and preventing dental diseases.
A key highlight of the activity was an interactive pledge session, where participants actively took part by expressing their commitment to oral health. Instead of a standard recitation, individuals spoke in their own words, sharing personal pledges related to dental care practices such as regular brushing, reducing sugar intake, and visiting the dentist periodically.
This approach encouraged community involvement, self-awareness, and personal responsibility toward oral health. The program successfully created a platform for people to voice their understanding and commitment, making the awareness initiative more impactful and memorable.
The event effectively promoted oral health education through participatory learning and public engagement, aligning with the global message of World Oral Health Day.
