Marking World Oral Health Day 2026, the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Government Dental College & Hospital, Mumbai, launched a four-month community initiative titled “Three Months for Brighter Smiles and Healthier Lives” to promote oral health awareness and preventive care. The campaign aims to promote preventive oral healthcare and expand community outreach across Mumbai through 150+ awareness, screening, and treatment programs targeting diverse population groups.

Key Campaign Activities
1. Community Dental Screening & Treatment
- Organization of oral health screening and treatment camps in various urban and suburban communities.
- Early detection of dental diseases and referral for necessary treatment.
2. Oral Cancer Awareness & Screening
- Screening programs for early detection of oral cancer and precancerous lesions.
- Awareness sessions on the harmful effects of tobacco and importance of early diagnosis.
3. School Oral Health Programs
- Oral health education sessions conducted in schools.
- Live tooth-brushing demonstrations to promote correct oral hygiene practices among children.
4. Outreach to Vulnerable Communities
- Special camps conducted in slum areas, migrant communities, and underserved populations.
- Distribution of oral hygiene kits including toothbrushes, fluoridated toothpaste, and educational materials.
5. Inclusive Oral Healthcare
- Oral health screening and education programs for children and individuals with special needs.
6. Tobacco Cessation & Public Awareness
- Counseling sessions on tobacco cessation.
- Public awareness programs conducted at community centers and public gathering places.
