GDCH, Mumbai: December Outreach: Expanding Oral Healthcare Access, Transforming Smiles Across Communities
The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Government Dental College & Hospital, Mumbai, successfully conducted an extensive series of 25 outreach and extension camps during December 2025. This large-scale initiative focused on delivering accessible oral healthcare services, promoting preventive practices, and strengthening early diagnosis, particularly among school children and underserved communities across Mumbai and nearby regions.
Objectives
The December Outreach Campaign was designed with the following key public health objectives:
- Deliver comprehensive oral healthcare services to underserved and hard-to-reach populations
- Encourage adoption of effective oral hygiene practices and preventive behaviors
- Identify dental caries, periodontal diseases, and oral lesions at an early stage
- Educate communities on the link between oral health and overall systemic well-being
- Motivate individuals towards healthier lifestyles and regular dental check-ups
- Utilize institutional, school-based, and community platforms for large-scale impact
A total of 25 outreach camps were conducted, reaching 5682 beneficiaries, including children, women, healthcare workers, and underserved populations.
