Turkey, as a country that houses many Dentistry Faculties, is hosting a wide variety of educational events throughout the whole country. As the Ankara Team, we are planning a 4-day event, with the last day dedicated to social media only.
On the 17th of March, a large event will be held with the Ankara Chamber of Dentists, on which 3 major attraction points are going to be aimed. On these points Event Stands will be created, where people will be encouraged to fill a form to aid them to assess their knowledge about basic oral hygiene. Furthermore, correct flossing and brushing technique will be taught and a package containing a brochure, with information about basic oral hygiene, a toothbrush, a toothpaste, and a mouthwash will be given to people to encourage them to take care of their oral health.
Subsequently, the other 3-day event is organized with a student community in the Hacettepe University. The members of the Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry Scientific Research Community (HUDBAT), who are organizing this event are Paniz Hobbi, Alperen Oz, Gizem Cicek, Polen Dogan and Goktug Tugcu. A 3-day event is planned, starting on the 20th of March, where a suburb school will be visited by the students of Hacettepe University, Faculty of Dentistry. On this day, children with a wide age range will be taught how to perform basic oral hygiene and will be encouraged to continue this action by giving them a package containing a toothbrush and a toothpaste. On the second day, an event in a shopping mall is planned, where the focus will be on raising awareness about the correlation of Systemic Diseases and Oral Health. On this day an Event Stand will be created with posters containing information about major health issues and information will be given to people about the connection of Oral Hygiene to Systemic Diseases. On the last day, the focus will be on the Social Media, where an educational video will be posted, with the Professors of the Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry, containing information about the major misconceptions and issues of Oral Health in Turkey.
