In celebration of the World Oral Health Day this year, the Sudanese Association of Dental students plans to take action, raise awareness of oral health and oral disease, encourage positive behavior and thereby help reduce the overall disease burden by organizing a campaign that takes place from the 20th of March till the 31st.

The campaign includes:

  • Multiple health awareness events in many areas (Exhibitions, games, contests, sketches, etc.)
  • Social Media and traditional media camaign
  • Symposium
  • Free dental treatment

Timeline

Sunday, March 18th

  • An orientation lecture will be held for 140 dental students from different universities volunteering in this year's campaign to let them know more about the campaign goals, their tasks and further details about our plans for this year.

Tuesday, March 20th: Nile Street

  • The campaign kicks off on the 20th of March with a visit to Nile Street, one of the most popular destinations in the city of Khartoum always bustling with families and visitors of all age groups and socioeconomic backgrounds spending their time in restaurants, cafes, boats or on the bank of the nile.
  • Oral health education will be provided (verbally, as well as via videos, fliers and posters) in addition to interactive games and contests.

Wednesday,healthcareMarch 21st: Visiting 2 Orphanages

  • Oral health education for the children as well as their caretakers
  • Educational games for the children

Thursday, March 22nd: Mall

  • Jam-packed with visitors of all age-groups on the last day of the week, malls are the perfect place to reach out to the public and spread our message.

Friday, March 23rd: Green Yard and Amusement park + Medical Day in a rural area

  • On this day, we will be visiting parks and other public venues

    • Interactive games and contests
    • Exhibitions
  • In addition to that, we will be holding a medical day in a rural area in Sudan and provide its citizens who have very limited access to healthcare and suffer many oral as well as systemic diseases with free dental treatment as well as raise their awareness regarding oral health and oral diseases.

Monday 26th/3: Visit to Children's Diabetes Centre

  • Oral health education
  • Interactive games and contests

Saturday 31st/3: Symposium

  • Held under the theme "Think Mouth, Think Health", this symposium targets medical researchers, healthcare workers as well as policy makers and will provide a channel for exchange of information between them. 

A closing ceremony for the campaign will be held at a later date.
